Sustainability is the number one priority in the automotive industry, and many wonder where resources for the next generation of cars will come from. To find an answer we visit BEWI Packaging & Automotive in Skara, Sweden.

Here we supply the car industry with everything from toolboxes, neck rests, child seats, car bumper and returnable dunnage, which is the protective packaging used to secure car parts during transportation between factories.

We’ve partnered with a some of the world’s leading car brands for a number of years. Together we seek to use more recycled material instead of virgin commodity. We collect leftover and used material and recycle it.

Reshape transport blocks

Many car manufacturers focus on carbon-neutral production and supply chains, closed resource loops and sustainable products.

At BEWI sustainability and innovation are also at the core of our business. We are always developing new ways to reuse or recycle our products. For instance, we modify and reshape dunnage when it’s returned from customers to make it fit redesigned car parts.

With a milling robot we reshape transport blocks made from EPP. By using the robot instead of molding new parts, we significantly save cost and material resources.

It’s a sustainable solution for both us and our customers. Together we can reduce the climate footprint and we find solutions for the next generation of cars.
