BEWI’s milestonesSince the outset in 1980 on the island Frøya off the coast of central Norway, the dedication to creating value to our customers, the society and our owners have established BEWI as a driving market force by offering sustainable solutions in innovative and efficient ways.
BEWI was founded by the Bekken family on Frøya in Norway. Focus on the packaging and building insulation products.
The merger of BEWI and EPS manufacturer StyroChem into BEWI Group, and acquisition of packaging operations from SCA Packaging.
Investment in extrusion technology in Porvoo, Finland.
Acquisition of Finnish XPS manufacturer and Swedish packaging operations.
Acquisition of the Dutch company Synbra as well as operations for fish boxes and automotive components.
Launch of Circular recycling operations.
Acquisition of the Danish and Belgian recycling operations Eco Fill and Eurec, as well as the Saint-Gobain EPS operations in France.
Launch of the world’s first 100% recycled EPS.
Establishment of a recycling company in Portugal and Circular Denmark.
Acquisition of insulation factory in Norrköping, Sweden, Dutch recycling company Poredo and BEWI Drift Holding in Norway.
Entering the UK market by acquiring a minority stake in Jablite Group.
