Going for a sustainable ride
In the car industry, efforts and focus on sustainability have gone from 0 to 100 in just a few years. With companies like Volvo Cars taking the lead. BEWI plays an important part in this as we always try to help our customers that share the same vision.
BEWI supplies Volvo cars with shock-absorbing material, floor fillers etc made of EPP – and the two companies are seeking new ways to reduce the environmental impact and make greater use of recycled plastic.
The special edition version of the Volvo XC60 debuted at the Volvo Ocean Race in Gothenburg in 2017, had 170 recycled plastic parts. BEWI made a number of them. This was only at first look at how we can work together, reaching new goals for a sustainable future in the car industry.
Volvo Cars’ ambition is that at least 25% of all plastic in cars launched after 2025 will be made from recycled material. And we at BEWI shares their vision.
At our Automotive plant in Skara in Sweden, BEWI has looked closely at every piece of the production process. By reducing the density of the raw material and adjusting how it’s refined, we have been able to reduce transportation, which in turn reduces CO2 emissions. Together with BEWI Circular we offer to collect and recycle our customers EPP and EPS-waste.
BEWI is on a sustainability journey, and if you’re driving a Volvo you may be part of the ride.
