Ensuring a safe and healthy workplace, targeting zero accidents

BEWI reduces the frequency and severity of accidents by continuously strengthening the safety culture

BEWI is committed to building a robust health and safety culture, ensuring that every team member feels secure in their work environment. Through safety programs and collaborative initiatives, the company strives to prevent incidents and promote a healthier workplace. Over the past year, BEWI has observed close to 30 per cent decrease in workplace accidents and a reduction of nearly 50 per cent in sick leave days.

Targeting zero accidents

“The employees are our most valuable resources. We have an ambitious target of zero accidents, and we work continuously to strengthen our safety culture and reduce accident frequency and severity,” says Roger Olofsson, Chief Human Resources Officer in BEWI.

In 2023, BEWI established a health and safety committee responsible for driving safety initiatives, composed of representatives from operational functions, health and safety experts, and communication specialists. The committee has launched successful campaigns involving all employees, raising awareness and improving the company’s overall safety culture.

Collaborative efforts and proactive measures

As a manufacturer of raw material and products, BEWI is aware of potential risks involved in managing heavy equipment in daily operations. Every incident, regardless of severity, is reported and thoroughly analysed to uncover root causes, followed by preventive measures such as training or standardisation of tools and processes.

“We are encouraged by the positive results of our combined efforts, as workplace accidents continue to decline and sick leave days have been significantly reduced over the past year,” Olofsson ends.
