0.15 mm of sustainability

A moisture barrier film is used in construction work to eliminate moisture problems, keep cold out and heat inside. No mean feat, considering that it’s only 0.15-0.20 mm. If you choose a moisture barrier film from BEWI, also get the world’s first moisture barrier made from sugarcane.

A renewable resource

Sugarcane is a renewable resource and is, of course, used as a source for sugar and as biofuel. But the main ingredient we use is the pulpy residue left after the juice and sugar is extracted. Historically, this was regarded as waste and often burned in the fields, which caused pollution. Now it’s used to replace traditional paper, plastics and much more. You have probably eaten on plates or carried home takeaway food in boxes made from sugarcane.

Raw material sourced from sugarcane has the ability to reduce the carbon footprint of a product significantly. The renewable content in our plant-based film is above 94%.

Research and development

The film contributes to sustainable construction methods, with the same mechanical and thermal properties as traditional fossil-based barrier films.

The moisture barrier is one example of how BEWI pushes research and development and initiate new methods to produce more sustainable products. Every day we work together with customers to create even more sustainable solutions.
