Innovation in EPP

A multifunctional furniture developed with attention to function and design.

Dorica is developed by the company byACRE in close collaboration with BEWI. Over the course of eighteen months, BEWI has supported the development and production of Dorica, a multifunctional design object made entirely from 100% EPP (expanded polypropylene) that combines aesthetic appeal, functionality, and material innovation.

“Working with BEWI has been a pleasure from start to finish. Over the course of more than eighteen months, BEWI has been an outstanding manufacturing and technical partner, supporting the production and feasibility of Dorica with great care and expertise. We are proud of the result and of this manufacturing partnership.” — byACRE

From Vision to Finished Product

The design process has been central throughout the project. Working closely with byACRE, BEWI’s team has contributed technical expertise and material knowledge to help realise the design vision while ensuring the product could be manufactured efficiently and consistently.

“We entered the project with a clear goal: to unlock the full potential of EPP in the development of Dorica. This required close dialogue, testing, and a shared understanding of how material properties, functionality, and design should work together,” says Steen Storgaard, Product Designer at BEWI.

Strong material advantages

EPP offers a combination of properties well suited for this project: It is lightweight, robust, and recyclable, with high dimensional stability. These characteristics support both the functional and visual aspects of Dorica and make it suitable for use in various in- and outdoor environments.
