A multifunctional furniture developed with attention to function and design.

Dorica is the result of a close collaboration between the design company byACRE and BEWI. Over one and a half years, BEWI has supported the development and production of Dorica, a piece of furniture made from EPP (expanded polypropylene) that combines practical functionality with a modern expression. From early concepts to final manufacturing, the process has been marked by open dialogue and a practical approach.

“Throughout the development of Dorica, we have worked closely with BEWI and experienced a partner who is engaged, solution-oriented, and focused on quality” – byACRE

Design through collaboration

The design process has been central throughout the project. BEWI’s design team has been actively involved in transforming byACRE’s vision into a product that balances form, function and material performance.

“We entered the project with a clear goal: to create a multifunctional furniture that makes full use of EPP’s potential. This required close dialogue, testing, and a shared understanding of how design and material should work together”, says Steen Storgaard, product designer in BEWI.

Strong material advantages

EPP offers a combination of properties well suited for this project: It is lightweight, robust, and recyclable, with high dimensional stability. These characteristics support both the functional and visual aspects of Dorica and make it suitable for use in various in- and outdoor environments.
