Eyewash station 2.0

“We needed an upgrade, so we designed a new range of dispensers together with BEWI.” Bo Winther Barkholt, CEO, Plum Safety.

Keep your eye on the Plum iBox

Plum Safety in Denmark produces eyewash, plasters and first aid equipment. BEWI supplies them with EPS solutions, that sell all over the world, but the time had come for a change.

– We needed to upgrade the eyewash station, so we designed a new range of dispensers together with BEWI, says Bo Winther Barkholt, CEO, Plum Safety.

The new Plum iBox is available with up to three different eyewashes and should be installed less than 20 meters or 10 seconds from a chemical hazard. In an emergency, it can save an eye.

The design

– In the BEWI design team we made a CAD model in cooperation with Plum Safety, and milled a prototype that we could test, says Henrik Boe Dam, Structural Designer at BEWI.

The updated eyewash station is made of shock-resistant, insulating and lightweight EPP. The Plum iBox has no moving or added parts, except the window – which is removable. Hinges, lock mechanism and handle are all made of EPP and integrated into the design.

– The window makes it possible to see expiry dates and if the products need a refill. And the handle makes it easy to lift the iBox off the wall and bring it fast to the person who needs eyewash, says Henrik Boe Dam.
